18 Apr 10 Rotex RO 125 FEQ 5″ Dual Mode Sander from Festool

A good sander is worth its weight in gold since the days of anyone wanting to sand by hand or with a manual tool, aside from detail work in some furniture, are quite far behind us now. I had been wanting to upgrade to a better model so I tried out a few at my local home improvement mega store and found this Festool Rotex RO 125 to e the best one out there for all around use. It changes over quick and simple, offering both random orbital mode, gear driven and rotary mode. This lets you do sanding at different levels from high grade polishing to fine sanding to coarse sanding – what ever you job you need done. Since the unit housing the gears is completely sealed off it is not going to get clogged with dust and that alone will make sure your sander lasts a good time without having to spend a lot of time cleaning it after each use or preparing it if it’s been in the shop and gotten dusty. The power cord Festool gives you is one of the best parts because it works with any of their other power tools and it is a full 13 feet long so you don’t have to be tied to an outlet. That makes a big difference if you work on a larger scale projects such as boats. It actually has a built in dust eliminator, too, to help keep your shop dust free by vacuuming the air as you work. At $395 you can’t find a better sander on the market today.
